The love of flight is one that can be nurtured with experience in the air but flights can be costly and hard to come by in our community. This is a prime reason that local pilots provide free flights to kids ages 8-17 annually at their Young Eagles Rallies in Mason and Oceana Counties.

Mason County Young Eagles

The Mason County Pilots Association hosts their annual Young Eagles Rally each July at the Mason County Airport- 5530 W. US 10 in Ludington. At the event, kids ages 8-17 are invited to take a free airplane ride with a local pilot. Pilots involved in the event donate their time and use of their aircraft.

Families are encouraged to arrive early as the event fills up quickly. All kids must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in order to fly. The 2019 Ludington Eagles Rally provided free plane rides to 136 kids.

Oceana County Young Eagles

The Oceana County Pilots' Association hold their annual Young Eagles Rally each September at the Oceana County Airport- 1805 W. Baseline Road in Shelby. 47 kids received free plane rides at the 2019 event.

The 2020 rallies were canceled due to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 virus but the Pilot's Associations are hopeful that the events will resume in 2021. Stay tuned for information on the 2021 Young Eagles Rallies!
